About Five Finger Death Punch
Five Finger Death Punch, also known as 5FDP, is an American heavy metal band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005.
The band originally consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Ivan Moody, rhythm guitarist Zoltan Bathory, lead guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. But Bingham was later replaced by DArrell Roberts in 2006 who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Snell left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Chris Kael in 2011. Then Spencer left the band due to back issues and was replaced by Charlie Engen. Which makes Bathory the only remaining founding member of the 5FDP. And recently, in October 2020, Andy James replaced Jason Hook as the band’s lead guitarist.
The Band’s Formation
The band was originally founded in 2005 by Zoltan BAthory and Jeremy Spencer. Zoltan chose the name based on the special attack seen in classic martial arts movies. The early band released their debut album, The Way of the Fist as an entirely self-produced effort. This album caught the eye of FIrm Music who signed a record deal with the band. This then led to the release of the EP, Pre-Emptive Strike, which was exclusively released through the ITunes Store.
The album’s success led to the band’s first major tour cycle from July 30 – September 2 2007. And this tour was, arguably, the start of their rise to heavy metal stardom.
Recent Work
Recently, in May 2021, the band announced plans on recording their ninth album in 2022. It was also announced that they had plans of re-recording their debut album to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
Fans were ecstatic with the news because it meant getting more of the band they loved, just in time for their 2022 tour cycle.
